Discover vegan bao, dumpling and more at Din Tai Fung on Vegas Strip

ARIA Resort & Casino continues to be one of the most vegan-friendly hotels on The Strip. With the opening of Din Tai Fung, it further solidifies its notch among the top hotels with vegan options in Las Vegas.

Din Tai Fung is an iconic dumpling and noodle restaurant with locations from Los Angeles to Taiwan. The restaurant is also vegan-friendly.

Located near the guest elevators, Din Tai Fung features a large kitchen encased in glass to showcase the restaurant’s Xiao Long Bao (XLB) culinary team and their creation of more than 10,000 dumplings a day.

XLB are traditionally filled with pork, but vegans are not left out at the restaurant. In fact, the restaurant clearly marks what dishes are vegan to make it easy. Of course, there are a few menu hacks to expand the vegan options even more.

Vegan Appetizers at Din Tai Fung

Start your meal with an assortment of veggies at Din Tai Fung.

Our favorite is the cucumber salad, small slices of Persian cucumber with mild fresno chili peppers and sliced, fresh garlic tossed in sesame and signature Din Tai Fung chili oils.

Another must-try is the seaweed and bean curd salad. It comes with bean sprouts, glass noodles, beancurd, and thin strips of seaweed tossed in traditional vinegar dressing. It’s got an added little kiss of the signature oil to give it a little extra flavor.

Other vegan appetizers include a soy noodle salad, and wood ear mushrooms.

Vegan Dumplings and Buns

While the restaurant does not offer vegan versions of its signature XLB or spicy wontons, it does offer one bun and dumpling.

The six-piece veggie and mushroom dumplings are filled with bok choy, glass noodles, dried bean curd and shiitake mushrooms. The dumplings are green, thanks to fresh spinach juice rolled into the dumpling.

The bun is filled with the same mix as the dumplings and comes two-per-order. With a soft, chewy exterior, the earthy inside adds a little crunch.

Vegan Greens

When it comes to the greens section, it’s all vegan and gluten-free. There are a handful of veggies to enjoy. Our top pick is the sauteed spring beans with garlic.

Vegan Desserts

Vegan desserts aren’t normally abundant at restaurants that aren’t vegan. But, at Din Tai Fung, nearly every single dessert is vegan except for ones containing chocolate.

Choose from red bean buns, which are lightly sweet.

Or, try our favorite, the sesame and mochi XLB. The rich flavor has a hint of peanut butter and they are fantastic.

Other options include sweet taro (although sweet isn’t the word we’d use to describe it, it’s pretty subtle) and sesame fillings. Choose from buns, XLB, or mochi XLB.

Dishes to veganize at Din Tai Fung

The soups, noodle soups and rice do not have any ways to be veganized, but you can make the spiced noodles vegan.

Order the house spicy sauce noodles and let your server know you’re vegan. These are our favorite — glass noodles tossed in a perfectly spicy sauce.

You can also request the sesame sauce noodles vegan.
